AC Repair in Bradenton, FL

AC Repair in Bradenton, FL

AC not cooling? Most repairs are done the day we're there, and we'll review another company's quote free.

Where are you right now?

Most people find this page in one of three situations, and each one calls for a different kind of help.

It just stopped working. You need the house cool again, and you need someone who will find the actual cause.

It's getting older, and you're wondering whether it's worth fixing. Here's how we make that call, including when the honest answer is to repair it.

Someone already gave you a number. A big repair bill or a replacement quote deserves a second look before you sign. We review other companies' quotes for free.

When it stops working

An air conditioner rarely picks a convenient moment. Whether it's blowing warm air, refusing to start, icing over or leaving water where water shouldn't be, the first step is the same: call us and describe what you're seeing. You don't need to diagnose anything yourself, and a breakdown on its own doesn't mean you need a new system.

Our office is open Monday through Friday, 8 to 5, and we provide emergency service on nights and weekends. After hours, your call goes to our automated on-call system, which our own technicians respond through. If it can wait, request service online and our office will call you back to set a time.

What happens at a repair visit

Our technician's first job is to find the cause, not to pick out a replacement. It helps to tell them what changed, when the problem shows up and whether it has happened before. Before we arrive, just clear a path to the indoor and outdoor equipment and settle any pets; there's no need to climb into the attic or open anything up.

Our trucks are stocked, so most repairs are finished the same day we're there. Some repairs are priced at a flat rate, but we prefer time-and-materials wherever it fits, because you pay for the time and parts the job actually took rather than a price built to cover the worst case. Either way, you'll know how the work will be billed before we start, and every repair carries our one-year workmanship warranty.

Is it worth fixing?

Age alone doesn't answer that question, and neither does one large repair bill. An older system with a single failed part can be well worth repairing, while a younger one that keeps breaking down may not be. When we make a recommendation, we weigh four things and explain each of them to you:

  • What failed, and the condition of everything else. One worn part and a system that is wearing out all over are very different conversations.
  • The repair history. A first failure and a third service call this summer point in different directions.
  • What the repair would actually solve. Getting the system running again is not the same as fixing a room that has never cooled properly.
  • Your realistic options. Parts availability, the work involved, and the trade-offs of repairing versus replacing.

If a repair is the smart move, we'll say so, even though a new system would be the bigger sale. Our technicians are paid hourly, not on commission, so their job is to help you make a good decision, not to turn a service call into a replacement.

A note on older R-22 systems

Systems that run on R-22 refrigerant are a special case. In our experience, repairing them is often expensive enough that it rarely makes long-term sense, and a new system with a fresh warranty is frequently the better use of your money. We'll still look at what actually failed before recommending anything.

If you do decide to replace, we'll review what you've already paid us for diagnosis and repair and credit what we fairly can toward the new system. When replacement is the right call, here's what an A&E replacement involves.

Already have a quote in hand?

Many of the people who call us already have a number from someone else: a repair bill that stopped them cold, or a replacement quote with a deadline attached. Before you compare totals, compare the jobs. We'll review another company's quote with you for free.

For a repair quote, look for a clear diagnosis, the specific work proposed and how it will be billed. If you were told to replace the system instead, it's fair to ask why a repair won't do.

A replacement quote should spell out:

  • The exact indoor and outdoor equipment, by model, and how the two form a matched system, which code requires.
  • What happens to the ductwork, drain lines and electrical connections: reused, repaired or replaced.
  • Who pulls the permit and handles the inspection.
  • Removal and disposal of the old equipment.
  • What's included, and what would cost extra if it turns out to be needed.
  • The parts, labor and workmanship warranties, listed separately and in writing.

One thing worth a closer look: a "new system" quote that lists only an outdoor unit. Because the indoor and outdoor equipment have to match, ask exactly how the new unit will match what's already in your house.

A shorter quote isn't automatically the better deal, and a longer one isn't automatically padded; it may simply answer more of your questions. A decision this size deserves a clear explanation, not a countdown. For the full list of questions worth asking, see our guide to choosing an HVAC contractor.

Common questions

Should I replace my AC just because it's old?
Not on age alone. What failed, how often it has failed and whether the house is actually comfortable matter more. Here's how we decide.

How do I know whether a replacement quote is fair?
Compare what each quote includes, not just the totals. Use this checklist, or call and we'll review it with you for free.

Do you offer emergency AC repair on nights and weekends?
Yes. Outside office hours, calls go to our automated on-call system, which our own technicians respond through.

Do you serve the Sarasota County side of Lakewood Ranch?
Yes, including Waterside and Windward, along with all of Manatee County and the nearby northern Sarasota communities.

I'm a VIP member. Does that change anything?
